As a Diplomate of the American Board of Chiropractic Orthopedics, a Delegate to the American Chiropractic Association, and a member of the Board of Directors of the New Jersey Chiropractic Association, Edwin Barry leverages his comprehensive training and practice into a deeply insightful understanding of the treatment of lower back conditions and disc problems.

Marrying his 35-plus years of experience as a physician with his passion for engineering and innovation, Barry is one of the few Certified Laser Practitioners on the East Coast, with extensive training and post-graduate work in the therapeutic application of high-intensity laser to musculoskeletal issues. At the 2017 International Laser Safety Conference in Atlanta, Barry also proposed using high-intensity laser therapy as a way to mitigate opioid prescription abuse for acute and chronic pain.

This lifelong pursuit of an alternative to surgical or pharmaceutical intervention has now led him to found his company, BAACK2 which is devoted to developing and bringing to the marketplace a therapeutic device for the home called Lift. Lift combines forward flexion of the lower back with distraction and traction, using gentle, low-impact assisted movement to accelerate healing of the disc tissue and provide real and lasting relief. This revolutionary product could not have come about without Barry’s innate ability to explain and put into practice the underlying biomechanical principles of his concepts during a multi-year collaboration with well-regarded engineers and designers.

Beyond this combination of clinical expertise and engineering know-how—which is unique in the industry—Barry brings approachability, empathy, and real-life experience to all of his therapeutic pursuits. He has suffered many of the same back problems as his patients and has successfully maintained his ability to do what he loves, including serving as a certified volunteer pilot with the nonprofit Pilots N Paws and enjoying his longtime, physically demanding hobby of surfing well into retirement. As stated on baack2.com, Ed Barry’s mission remains simply to help patients get back to fully living life.
