Chere Parton-Scythes has been practicing meditation for over 10 years. She completed a teaching apprenticeship with the founder of the Penn Program for Mindfulness in Philadelphia, and she is certified to teach introductory Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Seminars by the University of Massachusetts Medical School’s Center for Mindfulness, founded by Jon Kabat-Zinn. In addition to numerous other retreats and training seminars at Kripalu, the Garrison Institute and Omega Institute, she completed five levels of Warrior in the World training at the Shambhala Center in Philadelphia, a secular Buddhist community. No stranger to stress, her day job is being the Chief Operating Officer of the digital division of Aetna Inc. She found the value of meditation while she was a single mom and CEO of a digital start up. She also teaches meditation to Aetna employees in conjunction with the Aetna Mindfulness Office. In 2011 she was honored with the Healthcare 11 award recognizing the top healthcare thought leaders in the industry.
